Monthly Lesson Themes
January
“New beginnings, next step”
In January, we will encourage your child to try new things. We believe in the importance of building strong character. Encouraging children to try new things, overcoming obstacles, initiation and following through are tools to build a strong character. We will provide the opportunity for children to act upon their interest and move forward with courage.
February
“Love”
In February, we will introduce your child to a world of love. By surrounding our children with an environment of love, children will learn the value and the importance love plays in life. We encourage the growth of love for family, friends, teachers, and most importantly themselves.
March
“International Culture “
In March, we will introduce children to the Chamorro, Japanese and American culture and holidays through arts and crafts. For Girls Day, children will make crafts in celebration of the day. On St. Patrick’s day we will present projects using the green and clovers. We will also have activities relating to the Chamorro culture. Children will experience different cultures to accept all backgrounds.
April
“Caring for Earth”
In April, children will express their thoughts for Earth in celebration of Earth Day. Children will exchange ideas on how we can care for Earth. We will then encourage children to act upon these ideas to save the Earth.
May
“Kindness”
Kindness is the theme for May. Imagine how each person’s kind actions or words can spread to bring peace to this world. Not only Kindness strengthen us but also bring happiness to us. We will encourage children to be kind to people, to living things and grow with kind hearts.
June
“Health”
It is most important for children to grow healthy minds and hearts. In June, we will continue to encourage routines for a healthy lifestyle.
July
“Dream”
In celebration of “Tanabata”, in July we will introduce the story of “Tanabata.” It is wonderful to have a dream. We will encourage children to always believe in their dreams.
August
“Appreciating Nature”
What a blessing for our children on Guam to be surrounded by nature on this beautiful island, ocean and Sea Creatures In August, children will learn to appreciate and explore the wonders of nature.
September
“Respect”
In September, children will learn the importance of treating elders, parents and others with respect.
October
“Enjoyment”
This month our biggest event is Halloween parade. It is a month for our children to fully enjoy themselves. Children will be making Halloween creations such as jack-o-lantern, black cats, bats, witch and ghosts.
November
“Relationship”
Thanksgiving is one of many important holidays in America. “Thanksgiving” started in celebration of the Native American and Pilgrim harvesting their first crop and friendship. We will teach your child the importance of appreciating food and relationship with others. Projects include turkey, corn, and Native American hats. A book titled “Thanksgiving is” will be read to children. Children will bring in one kind of favorite vegetable to make a Thanksgiving lunch soup.
December
“The joy of giving”
December is full of Christmas projects. Christmas tree, ornaments, Santa Claus, reindeer, stockings, letters to Santa are several projects children will surely enjoy. We will introduce the story of “Christmas”, the four weeds of Christmas (Advent) and counting down the days until Christmas. Christmas is not only about receiving gifts from Santa and parents but also about giving. For children to understand the joy of giving, we will encourage children to do something nice for others throughout the month. We are plan for an exciting Christmas Program for our children at the end of the year.
